Namibia Vacations
Comprehensive Namibia Vacations Info, Accommodation, Travel Guides, Fabulous Books and Souvenirs
Namibia is renowned for ecotourism and nearly one million tourists take Namibia Vacations annually to experience the country’s extensive wildlife and spectacular landscapes. Most holidaymakers that travel to Namibia are from Germany, the UK, Italy, France and South Africa.
Windhoek
Windhoek, the capital city, is the main entrance point for tourists flying into Namibia, commonly at Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport. The main travel sites in Windhoek comprise: Windhoek Country Club, which was launched in 1995 to host that year’s Miss Universe beauty contest and is one of the leading resorts and golf clubs in the country; the Titenplast, which is the venue of the National Assembly and National Council, and Zoo Park among other attractions.

Walvis Bay
The second largest town in Namibia is Walvis Bay where the main port of the country is situated, in addition to the Walvis Bay International Airport. The town is geographically placed in such a manner that it is the junction of two stark landscape contrasts, with a vast lagoon and harbour flowing from the Atlantic Ocean on one side, and the oldest desert in the world on the other, the Namib desert. The fascinating duality results in the most spellbinding scenery vantage points within Walvis Bay.

Kuiseb River Delta
The Kuiseb River Delta is the meeting point where the Namib Desert joins Walvis Bay. The Delta is the primary water source for a fresh water underground aquifer and hosts a thriving desert teeming with animals, desert plant life, insects and reptiles. The Kuiseb Delta is also home to Anthropological sites and live descendants of the ancient Khoi-Khoi people, the Topnaars.
A large variety of species, a large population of sea mammals and bird life inhabit the lagoon and harbour. The large number of animals that occupy the Namib Desert on the other side has earned it the name, “The Living Desert”.

The tourism activity centre of Namibia is Walvis Bay with activities being mostly water related, such as kite- and wind surfing, sea kayaking, photographic boat cruises, shark angling boat angling and shore angling. Every year Walvis Bay hosts one of the international legs of speed kite and wind surfing.
Activities on land vary, including desert sightseeing tours, Sandwich harbour sightseeing tours, 4X4 dune driving tours into the huge dunes of the Kuiseb river, dune hang gliding, dune boarding and dune skiing, guided educational, historic and anthropologic quad biking tours into the Kuiseb Delta, visits to the Topnaar people and living desert tours.
There are many outstanding National Parks in Namibia. The most popular being Etosha, then Namib-Naukluft, Waterberg, Fish River Canyon and Skeleton Coast.
